Innolux reported just a 1.4% increase in sales in 2014 from the previous year, reaching NT$428.7 billion ($13.5 billion). Sources in the Asian supply chain say that Samsung has secured orders for processors for the Apple Watch, using its 28nm technology. The orders require 3,000 – 4,000 12″ wafers monthly. The processor will be housed in Apple’s S system-in-package, supposedly produced by Advanced Semiconductor Engineering.
United Microelectronics (UMC) reported sales of NT$12.2 billion ($384.8 million) in December, up 5.8% from November and 23.2% higher than December 2013. Last month’s result brought sales for the year to NT$140 billion ($4.4 billion), 13.1% ahead of 2013.
