Huawei to Make Phones in India

Huawei Technologies has secured approval from the Indian government to manufacture mobile phones in India, one of the world’s largest markets for mobile phones. The Chinese company first applied for a manufacturing licence 19 months ago but approval from India’s Ministry of Home Affairs has been slow because of wrangling over national security concerns.

LG to Close Chinese Facility?

LG Electronics ‘may’ close down its Shanghai-based production facilities (called LGESH), according to Korean media. Declining profits and increased labour costs in China are behind the move, said the source. LG set up the facility with the Chinese government, in a 70%/30% split. Digital AV products and, latterly, surveillance cameras are produced there.

BOE to Take Third Place in LCD Capacity

Media reports from Taiwan claim that BOE will become the world’s third-largest panel maker, in terms of LCD capacity, by 2018.
