HD subscribers to Russia’s Moscow City Telephone Network (MGTS) increased 3.5 times in the last 12 months, rising at the beginning of July to 35% of the company’s digital TV customers, from 10% in July 2014. The increase is attributed to Moscow’s fibre-optic network, which now covers over 3.5 million households.
UK-based set top box manufacturer and internet TV technology provider, Amino, has signed an agreement to acquire cloud TV firm, Entone, for a total consideration of $73 million. UK distributor, Ginsbury, has said that Kyocera is extending the backlight lifetime specification on 26 of its LCD modules to 100,000 hours. Sizes are from 4.3″ to 12.1″. Ginsbury said that the enabler for the boost is the improved efficiency of the LEDs.
