BOE has announced a CNY3 billion ($484.2 million) investment into a new G8.5 fab in Fuzhou, China. It will be the company’s fourth G8.5 line. Ground will be broken in September this year, with completion scheduled for June 2017. Monthly capacity is expected to reach 120,000 substrates, focusing on 55″-and-smaller panels.
The government of Chile now requires all broadcasters in the country to apply for a DTT licence over the next two months, to prepare for analogue switch-off. Licences will be allocated by the end of the year. Chile currently intends to switch off analogue programming by 2020.
