OTT Will Rise Four-Fold by 2019

Juniper Research says that OTT subscription revenues will rise four-fold by 2019, to $31.6 billion – up from just under $8 billion in 2014. There will be a ‘surge’ in uptake, due to continued growth in Western Europe and North America, as well as the emergence of key OTT players in APAC and the Far East.

New research from Juniper shows that traditional broadcasters are facing increased competition from OTT providers, and that UltraHD – which has been slow to take off in OTT so far – will jump in popularity over the next two years. This will be aided by falling TV prices.

Juniper also concluded that more than 84% of OTT subscriptions will be made via connected TVs by 2019; and that IPTV revenues will more than double over the forecast period.
