HTC’s CFO, Chang Chia-lin, has said that the company is likely to raise its smartphone outsourcing orders to ODM partners this year. The move will be made to cope with emerging market demand.
Radiant Opto-Electronics expects backlight units (BLUs) for smartphone applications to represent between 20% and 25% of its consolidated revenues in the second half of the year. The company said that it would invest NT$3 billion ($98 million) in automated equipment to raise smartphone BLU production.

Orange has launched an HDMI dongle, simply called the TV Stick. The product acts as a small form factor STB. It will be deployed in Romania first, followed by France and other European countries. The Stick is based on Espial’s HTML5 client software.
