Asus has apparently taken on BYD, a Chinese OEM, to manufacture 1.5 million notebooks. Sources say that this represents less than 10% of Asus’ total planned notebook shipments this year. It is thought that the move is partly aimed at increasing Asus’ bargaining power with Quanta and Pegatron.
