Dolby Laboratories Inc. recorded a Q1 net profit of $41.4 million on turnover of $234.2 million, which compares with a net profit in the first quarter of last year of $44.5 million on turnover of $231.3 million. Dolby completed the acquisition of Doremi Labs, a privately held company, during the first quarter.

To expand vehicle panel module production, Japan Display will invest NT$800 million ($25.5 million) into Taiwan-based subsidiary Kaohsiung Opto-Electronics. Sources in Asia said that the investment should raise Kaohsiung Opto-Electronics’s monthly substrate production to 450,000 by the end of 2016 (currently 180,000) and create 400 new jobs.
