Sharp has cut LCD panel production for smartphones and tablets, due to weak sales to Chinese makers, sources have told The Japan Times. The output of IGZO panels at the company’s Kameyama No. 2 plant has been cut by about 20% from last year (to around 1,000 substrates daily). However, the production of large TV panels has been increased as Sharp anticipates higher demand due to the weak yen.
