HbbTV is Big in Germany
GfK says that HbbTV has firmly established itself in Germany; 92% of connected TVs sold last year – 4.2 million devices – were compliant with the platform. 60% of all TVs sold (4.8 million sets) were connected units.
Televisa Reaches Pay-TV Milestone
Dataxis estimates that the Televisa Group passed 10 million pay-TV subscribers for the first time in its history in Q4’14. At the end of Q3’14, the company had almost 9.9 million pay-TV subs. The acquisition of Mexican cable operator Telecable, in January, will add almost 400,000 additional subscribers when it is approved by regulators.
Pay-TV Climbs in Portugal
Figures from Portuguese regulator Anacom show that there were around 3.35 million pay-TV subs in the country at the end of 2014; a 5.7% YoY increase, and representing a 56.5% penetration rate.
