China’s Meizu shipped 8.9 million smartphones in the first half of 2015, it has announced: a 540% YoY rise. Chinese media said that the company’s low-cost Meilan brand (targeting sub-CNY1,000 ($160) phones) has helped it to increase shipments. Meizu is said to be targeting 20 million unit shipments this year.
