ZACEEZ Will Replace Shenzen

Taiwan-based handset makers say that China’s Zhengzhou Airport Comprehensive Economic Experimental Zone (ZACEEZ) is set to replace Shenzen as the world’s largest handset production base. The Zone, in northern China, has a cluster of 70 handset vendors, including Foxconn. 120 firms are expected to have a presence there by the end of the year. Annual handset output is estimated to be 200 million this year, and 400 million in 3 – 5 years, said sources.
