Including $6 million of charges related to the merger with NXP Semiconductors, Freescale Semiconductor announced record Q2 profits of $122 million, up from $86 million a year ago, on turnover which increased from $1.19 billion to $1.2 billion. For the half year there were profits of $192 million on revenue of $2.37 billion.
Samsung has confirmed that it has a smartphone called the Z3 (Tizen Moves Away From Entry-Level), running the Tizen OS, and has announced the launch markets. Samsung will first bring the phone to India, Bangladesh and Nepal. A European launch is planned, according to Phonearena. Release dates were not shared.
