LG is considering moving its OLED lighting business from LG Chemical to LG Display.
Reports from Korea say that the idea behind the move is the consolidation of LG’s OLED business in a single company. It is thought that bringing OLED lighting under the LGD name will enable faster and lower-cost development.
The OLED Association has speculated that LGD could convert an existing G4.5 OLED fab to lighting. Such a move would further reduce capacity expansion costs.
