Sony to Revive Thai Manufacturing

Sony plans to establish a smartphone manufacturing facility in Thailand, according to the Nikkei. A new production line will be added to an existing site in Pathum Thani Province, which has been suspended since the 2011 floods. Mass production will begin in 2016, with volumes reaching ‘several million’ units.

Huawei takes China’s smart phone throne as Xiaomi’s growth slows

Huawei became China’s top smart phone vendor in Q3 2015, while Xiaomi fell to second place, according to Canalys estimates. Orange Enjoys IPTV and Satellite Success

Orange gained 223,000 new IPTV and satellite TV customers in Q3, ending the quarter with more than 7.6 million subscribers. The vast majority (6.3 million) of Orange’s TV customers are in France, with around 774,000 in Poland and 215,000 in Spain.

TRT to Bring UHD Football to Turkey

The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) will transmit a football match between Fenerbahçe of Istanbul and Ajax of Amsterdam in the UEFA Europa League competition. Samsung and Mediapro have been involved in the project and the material will be sent at 50fps in H.265 (HEVC) format over the Turksat 2A satellite.
