The Digital Television Group (DTG), of the UK, and German TV Platform (DTVP) are to hold the second joint Plugfest on the 12th and 13th April, at the DTG’s headquarters in London. The event will focus on testing the interoperability of UltraHD devices, such as TVs, receivers and HDR Blu-ray players.
Unitymedia, the German cable operator, has announced that it will end analogue distribution to its network on the 30th June 2017. By then, the firm aims to have moved 95% of its customers to digital, from 85% today. Customers without a DTV receiver at the switch-off date will be issued with a free digital box.
Canatu is celebrating another customer win for its carbon nanotube (CNB) Flex Film. The film, which detects touch signals, is used on the flexible OLED display of a customer’s curved wearable device. (However, Canatu didn’t say who the customer is)
Analogix Semiconductor has announced LG’s G5 smartphone and LG 360 VR headset both feature SlimPort connectivity. The technology provides DisplayPort over USB-C, and is used to enable VR in the headset. The phone uses Analogix’s ANX7816 transmitter and ANX7418 USB-C switch and controller; the 360 VR uses the ANX7737 converter and ANX7402 USB-C controller.
According to France’s Distributique, Ingram Micro France has dismissed new head Pierre-Yvon Méchali, just nine months after his appointment.
