According to data from Italy’s Confindustria Radio Televisioni (CRTV), 427 channels were available in the country as of the third quarter of 2017, a slight drop from the 431 available in the first quarter of the year.
CRTV’s data includes time-shift, HD, 3D, PPV and temporary channels. There are 105 HD channels—27 free-to-air and 93 available via satellite services—and one 3D channel.
The leading channel producers are Sky Italia, followed by Mediaset, RAI, Fox International Channels Italy, Discovery Italia, Viacom Media Italia and Walt Disney Italia. Mediaset produces the most DTT channels, followed by RAI and Discovery Italia.
