Matrox Makes 3 x 3 Video Walls Easier

Matrox had several things to show us at the show. First we looked at a new C900 single slot PCI card that has 9 outputs to allow three possible configurations – 3 x 3, 9 x 1 or 1 x 9. The company previously had a maximum of 8 outputs on a card, so a 3 x 3 system needed two graphics cards (an 8 output and a 2 output). Putting everything on a single card simplifies the choice of PC (almost any can be used). Each output can be up to 1920 x 1200. The new card will ship in March.

The company was also showing how its Mura IPX cards, which can input or output content delivered over IP in H.264 format from a network and display it in a control room. The version that can encode as well as decoding allows remote monitor feeds to be set up of the content of the wall.

Matrox also said that now that Midwich has taken over PSCo, the full line of Matrox cards will be available through Midwich. (Midwich to Acquire PSCo)
