TrendForce of Taiwan has said that, as we expected, TV panel price reductions have accelerated with 65″ dropping by 5% to 7% between May and August and with 43″ and 55″ dropping 4% to 6% over the same period. The company said that the power in the market is switching to the buyers’ side. Some panel makers are offering special deals to try to support Black Friday promotions.
Monitor panel demand is reported as a little firmer than TV panels, but the pricing trend is being influenced by the TV market and the company expects price drops of $1 or $1.50 for mainstream sizes. Notebook sizes are expected to drop by just $0.10 or $0.20 for TN, $0.20 or $0.30 for IPS panels.
