HbbTV Moving to HTML5, Developing Test Suite

Klaus Ilgner, of the HbbTV Association, has said that the platform is eventually intended to be extended to vertically-integrated operator environments, including IPTV. Other priorities include companion screen services, and enabling apps to be triggered in environments where there is no trigger available in a broadcast signal. The Association is moving away from CE-HTML and towards HTML5, and is developing a testing suite for HbbTV 2.0.
