Gefen has released a new 8×8 matrix which is capable of handling UltraHD signals into its Toolbox line.
The Toolbox 4k UltraHD 8×8 Matrix (GTB-HD4k2k-848-BLK) is a surface-mountable alternative to rack-mounted units. It is HDCP-compliant, routing up to eight UltraHD sources to the same number of displays via HDMI. Resolutions up to DCI-4k (at 24Hz) are supported, or UltraHD at 60Hz using 4:2:0 sub-sampling. 12-bit deep colour (up to 1920 x 1080), 3D and multichannel digital audio – in various formats – can also be transferred.
HDMI-in (x8) and -out (x8) ports are featured, as well as mini-USB-B, RS232 and RJ45. The unit can be purchased now, for $2,700.
