DuneHD Goes UHD and Linux/Android Hybrid

Dune HD has announced a new range of media players with UltraHD 60 fps HDR support and with unique hybrid Linux + Android software. Other new features include Rec 2020 support and HDMI 2.0a. The CPU is said to be four times faster than previous versions and Bluetooth is integrated. The players support Widevine for DRM allowing services such as Netflix in HD.

As well as supporting the Dune operating system and media centre, the boxes can run Android Apps including Skype and Kodi or a web browser such as Chrome.

Some of new models have new hardware features, which were not available in the previous models, such as: USB 3.0 host port, HDMI input, DVB-S/S2 tuner, slot for CI/CI+ Conditional Access Modules to access premium DVB channels, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB flash memory.

The five models are

Dune HD Neo 4K:

  • 4Kp60 HDR media player + Android Smart TV box
  • S905X, 1GB RAM, 8GB flash, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, 100Mbit Ethernet, Bluetooth

Dune HD Neo 4K T2:

  • Adds tuners (DVB-T, T2, C)

Dune HD Neo 4K T2 Plus:

  • Increase RAM to 2GB and upgrades flash to 16GB

Dune HD Sky 4K Plus:

  • Adds a DVB-S/S2 receiver
  • Slot for CI/CI+ Conditional Access Modules to access premium DVB channels
  • 2.5″ SATA HDD

Dune HD Pro 4K:

  • Hi-End video quality, BD3D support, full support for HD audio
  • RTD1295, HDMI input
