JVC has unveiled a new Diamond-series TV called the DM85UZXR, set to be released in late January. Although full details are not available, it is interesting to see that JVC claims Rec.2020 coverage; full coverage is not actually possible on today’s displays. This may be the first consumer display we have seen using the gamut, in fact.
10-colour will be displayed, with 64 zones of local dimming and UltraHD resolution. The 85″ TV will feature four HDMI ports supporting UltraHD at 60fps, and HEVC decoding. It will be shipped with a Roku Streaming Stick. UltraHD streaming will not be supported at launch, but add-on boxes with native support are under development, said Amtran VP Drew Pragliola (Amtran distributes JVC TVs in the USA).

I for one don’t believe that the TV will cover the full 2020 gamut, although it may well support the “gamma” built into the standard. (BR)
