ZED Mini Camera Brings Mixed Reality to VR Headsets

Stereolabs’ ZED Mini mixed-reality camera will start shipping on December 18th. The device attaches to existing Oculus or Vive VR headsets, adding AR functions.

The ZED mini features high-resolution and frame-rate 3D video capture, indoor and outdoor depth perception at up to 20 metres, 6-DoF positional tracking and spatial mapping. The device can output in 2.2k resolution at 15 FPS, 1080p at 30 FPS, 720p at 60FPS or WVGA at 100 FPS. It features a ƒ/2.0-aperture wide-angle all-glass dual lens with reduced distortion and a 110° viewing angle.

Stereolabs recommends a quad-core 3.0GHz or faster processor, at least 8GB RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1070 or better, Windows 7/8/10 or Linux and USB 3.0 for mixed reality at 90 FPS. You can take a look at the ZED Mini for yourself in this video from Stereolabs.
