Witsview reported that 68.84 million large LCDs shipped globally in August, a month on month increase of 9.3%. The number was made up of 23.6 million TVs, 12.4 million monitors, 15.1 million notebooks and 17.75 panels for tablets. Innolux managed to ship 3.8 million TV panels, up 9% from July, well ahead of CSOT, who shipped 3.07 million, also up 7.5%.
BOE Technology got very close to Innolux in notebooks, with sales of 3.49 million compared to 3.53 millions. BOE did well in tablets with 3.1 million panels shipped, compared to 2.39 million by LG Display and 1.38 from Hannstar.
The analyst expects August to be the seasonal peak, with a drop in shipments forecast for September.
