Vestel Shows UHD TV Line

We stopped by the Vestel booth but were told that there was not much new since our report at IFA (Vestel to Mass Produce OLED HDR TVs). As this headline notes, Vestel planned to launch 55” and 65” OLED TV with panels from LG Display only with HDR10 support. These are now in mass production and the company is now planning for distribution in South America.

We also reported on their range of LCD HDR TVs at IFA noting these would range from 40” to 65” with 100% of P3 color coverage. These look to be solutions that use white LED+red phosphor to with LED+red LED to obtain a wide color gamut. The quantum dot solutions are still too expensive, noted the company. TVs with this solution are more likely at CES 2018.

These will also only support HDR10 with luminance ranging from 600-900 cd/m², they told us at CES 2017. A 1000 cd/m² version is likely to be unveiled at IFA 2017.

Vestel continues to develop HLG connectivity as well as Dolby Vision HDR and these may be ready for IFA 2017 as well. – CC
