V-Nova said that its Perseus Codec is being used by Thaicom, a satellite operator, to demonstrate to clients that it can support UltraHD or Super Hi-Vision 8K. The companies said that broadcast was at a revolutionary low bit rate. UltraHD content at 50fps was decoded using an ‘off the shelf’ PC and a software version of the codec.
