Versaperm Can Test for Water Permeability

Versaperm of the UK has a new test instrument that can report on the permeability of the films and adhesives used in flat panel displays. The company can also test complete displays. It believes that water permeability (to vapour as well as liquid) can be a problem for a range of display technologies.

The company claims that results are typically accurate in the Parts Per Million (PPM) range (PPB in some cases). The system can produce results for several material samples, screens or enclosures at a time as well as measure them under a variety of environmental conditions.

Optionally, the system can also work with virtually all other common gasses and vapours including hydrocarbons, solvents, and CO2. Versaperm also offers a laboratory service for companies that only need to test samples on an irregular basis.

The company may be a little out of touch with the display business as it is offering to test PDPs! (BR)
