Socionext said that it would show a new media player that can support 8K at the forthcoming DSE show. As well as supporting four 4K panels through HDMI 2.0, the company said that it would support a single 8K TV and the box integrates what is claimed to be the “world’s first” SC1400A 8K/60p HEVC real-time decoder LSI for 8K TV solution (ITU-R BT.2073). The box runs Android and is compact at 16” W x 2.3” H x 8.5” D (40.6 x 5.8 x 21.6), weighing just 2.4kg (5.3 lbs).
