The SMPTE 2015 Fall Conference is history now, but as usual, it was an information-packed event in Hollywood.
Our focus was on displays, high dynamic range, color management and virtual reality for the most part, which means we did not have the bandwidth to cover video over IP, advanced audio, compression, file formats and workflows and other topics.
There is always a small exhibition element to the event, awards ceremonies and an after-hours “SMPTE jam” where the engineers put down their slide rules and pick up instruments. They are pretty good too.
In any event, please our coverage below. A lot of these papers are quite technical, so we have tried to summarize the key points providing enough technical information to understand the concepts, issues and solutions. Hopefully, we’ve done this successfully.
