SES says it has started what it claims is the first-ever live and linear Ultra HD trial with US cable multiple system operator (MSO) Armstrong.
Armstrong is testing SES’s camera-to-screen Ultra HD ecosystem, which was first unveiled at the NAB Conference in April this year. SES’s offering combines broadcast and IP technologies in a fully-managed scalable service, which the company says exploits the advantages of satellite broadcast and the multi-casting capabilities of DOCSIS 3.0, the advanced transmission standard in use by Armstrong and other leading cable systems.
