Renesas Simplifies USB Power Authentication

Renesas has announced a new chip that is said to be the first single package solution that supports both USB Power Delivery Rev. 3.0 (USB PD 3.0) and USB Type-C Authentication Rev 1.0, which enables device-to-device authentication. The R9J02G012 will start to ship in January 2018, with Renesas aiming for 1,000,000 chips per month by Jan 2019.
