Peerless was concentrating its efforts on a new range of Xtreme outdoor and tough duty TVs. Since the company came into the market, it has learned a lot about the needs of buyers and the latest display use an M+ pixel architecture (RGBW from LG Display) and produce 1500 cd/m². The panel uses a special polariser and also has a bonded front panel for optimum contrast and good blacks, even in high ambient light. They can be used in landscape or portrait mode.
Features that have been improved in the latest version including easier access for maintenance when the unit is installed. Other features include an infrared extender, DC power as well as a 5″ (12.7cm) x 12″ (30.4cm) x 2.5″ (6.3cm) ‘pocket’ where a media player or other driving device can be fitted. There are 5V and 12V triggers as well as RS232 for control. The sets have been made thinner so that the mounted TVs can meet the ADA requirements. Sizes go down to 49″ and the systems are rated as waterproof to IP68. The company also has a touch overlay that can be slipped over the display.
The company was also showing new kiosks that it has developed specifically for Samsung high brightness monitors and the company is working closely with the Korean firm.
We then looked at the UltraView displays, available in 49″, 55″ and 65″. The are rated to IP55 and also have a special soundbar that is IP65 rated.
Obviously there were lots of mounts, but no new developments since ISE. The company was highlighting the cable system for retailers that it has developed that allows displays to be mounted in shop windows and other sites away from walls. The system supports displays up to 65″.
The company also announced two new vertical lift carts that are ADA compliant and can be used to store a PC etc as well as allowing displays to be moved from room to room.
