Intel Takes to the High Seas

Royal Carribean’s new vessel, Quantum of the Seas, is the world’s first ‘smartship’. Part of the reason for this is the 15,000 Dell Venue tablets positioned around the ship at point-of-sale locations. 40,000 tablets, built by Hexa Electronics, have also been supplied to the crew as a way to stay connected with friends and family.

Admittedly this is many times the price of most modern PCs, but is less than the Christie’s valuation of $400,000 – $600,000, and well below the $905,000 that another Apple 1 sold for earlier this year (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 43).
