Square Trade, the independent insurance company for mobile devices, has released a ranking of tablets by their durability. The company rated each device based on its breakability, durability, water resistance and slide and drop resistance. It applied its own test procedures to the various devices, rating them on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the best possible rating.

As can be seen, this typically ends in the destruction of the units. Other groups also conduct drop tests but this seems to be a very comprehensive procedure indeed. It also allows the company to test new devices as they are released into the market.
According to the results, smaller tablets are more durable compared to larger models, as seen in the graphic.
