Volume production of a 12″ Macbook Air, which will be launched in Q1’15, has begun at Quanta Computer. The company has also apparently secured orders for the Apple Watch, and intends to hire 30,000 new workers to cope with demand for both products.
At the end of Q3’14, Chile had gained almost 200,000 satellite subscribers (up 16.1%), to more than 1.4 million, according to the Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel). Cable and IPTV subscribers rose from 1.26 million to 1.35 million (up 6.6%). Total pay-TV subscribers were just below 2.8 million, up 11.3% YoY.
Chinese phone maker, Huawei, reported a slowdown in growth last year as the company begins to increase investment in its smartphone business. Clear Channel has been awarded a five-year street furniture contract by Glasgow City Council. Clear Channel has taken on the advertising space in 600 bus shelters, all of which are to be fitted with NFC tags or QR codes. 50 of the shelters will also be upgraded with digital signage.
