Taiwan’s two main backlight unit (BLU) manufacturers reported sequential falls in sales in January. Sony Helps Estonian Independent Cinemas Embrace 4K and 3D Technology

Sony’s 4k and 3D cinema technology is now available to smaller Estonian independent cinema communities. Sony’s partner in Estonia, Miterassa Ltd., has installed several 4k projectors in a selection of smaller independent cinemas, including Sony’s SRX-R510 and SRX-R515 high-end 4k digital cinema projection systems designed for use in small and medium sized screens.

New Chinese Subsidies Incoming

According to sources in Asia, the Chinese government is preparing new subsidies aimed at energy-efficient electrical appliances, including LCD TVs. Subsidies could begin in March, the sources said.
