Brightsign Celebrates Recent Introductions

Brightsign rolled out a significant update to its media player portfolio in December, with new models in the HD and XD lines, and a completely new range, the LS players, was announced.

The LS line consists of low-cost, but custom-built, solutions. The LS422 ($250) was being shown, but there is also another model called the LS322 ($200).

The LS422 supports 1920 x 1080 video decoding at 30fps; the second device is a fully-featured commercial audio unit, with S/PDIF connectivity. Other ways that the cost has been kept down include a plastic case, rather than metal, and no HTML support.

All HD-line players now support HTML5 and 1920 x 1080 (60fps) decoding. The HD222 ($350) and HD1022 ($500) are networkable, with live data feeds. They feature GPIO interactivity, UDP support and videowall synchronisation. The HD1022 also delivers additional interactivity via USB 2.0 and serial connectivity.

The XD line is similar, but with dual 1920 x 1080 decode at 60fps. They have also been updated with faster graphics, HTML5 support, power-over-ethernet and remote viewing capabilities. The XD line is the XD232 ($450); XD1032 ($600); and XD1132 ($650), which adds live TV playback via HDMI.

Finally, Brightsign was showing the Brightsign 4k line, which supports HEVC and outputs UltraHD at 60fps via HDMI. These are the 4K242 ($600); 4K1042 ($700); and 4K1142 ($850).
