Panasonic is to set up a dedicated unit for procuring common parts and materials, in a bid to improve competitiveness and lower costs. The company’s annual procurement bill is around $32.6 billion, covering all of Panasonic’s business segments and reports suggest that the new unit would be responsible for around half of that amount.
