Radiant Opto-Electronics expects backlight units (BLUs) for smartphone applications to represent between 20% and 25% of its consolidated revenues in the second half of the year. The company said that it would invest NT$3 billion ($98 million) in automated equipment to raise smartphone BLU production.

Orange has launched an HDMI dongle, simply called the TV Stick. The product acts as a small form factor STB. It will be deployed in Romania first, followed by France and other European countries. The Stick is based on Espial’s HTML5 client software.
