Dish subscribers fell in Q2’15, the company has said. Around 638,000 new pay-TV subscribers joined Dish in the quarter (compared to 656,000 a year ago). However, net subscribers fell 81,000, compared to a loss of 44,000 in Q2’14. The quarter closed with 13.93 million pay-TV customers, compared to 14.05 million last year.
19,000 new UK homes joined Freesat in the first half of 2015, the company has said. Connected TV service Freetime enjoyed 200% YoY growth in new customers, and sales rose 48%.
The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) will begin licensing the UltraHD Blu-ray format (BDA Completes UltraHD Blu-ray) on 24th August. As well as UltraHD resolution, the standard specifies high dynamic range, wide colour and high frame rate (up to 60fps) features.
