There’s a new CEO at McDonalds, Steve Easterbrook, has given an interesting interview to CNBC. In the interview, he addresses the issue of the use of kiosks in the company’s sites. Easterbrook has moved the head office from the suburbs of Chicago to the city to put staff ‘in the mix’. He wants to update the chain with new locations and also with new ways to buy and pay. He talked about the use of kiosks which are now available and which now will be rolled out in all locations in the US, France and Germany, although other geographies, including the UK, Canada and Australia have already converted. Easterbrook said that kiosks allow a more relaxed experience than going to the counter and staying longer increases the expenditure per visitor.
Easterbrook said that if you have the McDonald’s app, the stores are ‘geofenced’ and when you get within 300′ (90m) of a store, the app will ask for your order and start the process to speed delivery.
