Macroblock Works on Reducing LED Problems

Macroblock of Taiwan, a major supplier of LED driver chips had a number demonstrations of new chip features. First, the company showed us that it has developed a power saving algorithm that completely powers down parts of the display driving system that are completely black. The company also has a new driver chip in the Hawkeye 200 series that addresses seven items of image quality performance including reducing the impact of crosstalk where there is an LED defect.

The company was showing its Brightness Adjustment Module (BAM) which allows control over the overall display brightness, while maintaining the full range of different grey scales, improving performance where brightness needs to be reduced, for example in live events where a lot of different lighting conditions may be seen.

Macroblock recently announced a deal with ITRI in Taiwan to collaborate on developing drivers for micro-LED displays. It is holding a one day event on LED displays on the 19th of July in Shenzen and there will be speakers from Osram, Brompton and Novastar, among others.
