The ETNews in Korea has said that LG Display will work with Apple and Google to make foldable displays and the paper says that the company will start mass production in 2018. Customers will also include Microsoft. The paper also said that less information about flexible applications is coming out of LG than Samsung because it is working with external partners, LG’s own phone business being much weaker than Samsung’s.
Analyst Comment
It would be surprising, frankly, if Apple wasn’t talking closely to LG Display (and JDI) about flexible OLEDs. None of the companies mentioned is desperate to help Samsung increase its total domination of the small OLED business. (BR)
