7thSense has released an entry-level media server, as an affordable way to introduce uncompressed media playback into a workflow for fixed installations. The Nano-1-SDI server features a web-based UI for simple configurations and a Delta GUI for more complex uses. It can support resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 at 60fps and will be released in August. The Nano-1-SDI-4k can support up to UltraHD at 60fps and will be released in September.

Asus has become the third PC vendor, along with Dell and HP Inc., to announce PC price rises in the UK. The company will increase its prices by about 9%, starting in October.

AV Stumpfl has added a video decoding algorithm to its Wings Vioso RX software, using specialised GPU instructions rather than regular CPU processes. Traditionally, compressed video content has been decoded in the CPU and transferred to the GPU, via the PCI bus, for playout. AV Stumpfl’s new approach means that data is unpacked and decoded in the GPU; more bandwidth and higher power is thus available.

Dell has provided a price for its UP3017Q OLED monitor, which was revealed at CES (Digital Experience Has Lots to See). It will cost $5,000, but there is still no news on when it will be launched.

Hisense, which is now licensing the Sharp brand, has begun to ship the 75″ N8000 TV (LC-75N8000) (Hisense Begins Sharp Licensing) to retailers. The TV will cost $3,200 at retail.

The UM3C and UH5C digital signage displays that LG showed off at ISE 2016 (LG Uses ISE to Push OLED for Digital Signage) are now being launched. These screens have UltraHD resolution and can operate 24/7, with a 50,000-hour lifetime. 75″ and 85″ (UH5C only) sizes will be available. They will cost €6,400 (75UM3C), €6,965 (75UH5C) and €14,740 (85UH5C). 49″ – 65″ models will be added in September.

Samsung will launch its 40″ Serif TVs (Samsung Goes for Design) in the USA this August. The sets will cost $1,500.

Sharp Europe has launched software making it possible to link up to three of its 80″ Big Pad displays together, creating a 5.4m-long video wall. The software is called Advanced Multi-Board and enables up to six people to work on the wall at once.
