Samsung Goes for Design

Click for more and larger imagesSamsung has added new “Serif” TVs designed by French designers, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, that is intended to be more “furniture like”. The sets are available in white, dark blue and red and are intended to get away from the “logic of ultra thin screens”. The set design has a side profile that is like an upper case “I” and there is a flat surface on the top and ledges on the front and back at the top and bottom. The sets can also be supported on legs.

The remote control and user interface have also been re-designed. In “curtain” mode, is applied, a filter is applied over the display to show a clock allow access to apps and photo gallery and also to act as a Bluetooth speaker.

The sizes of the sets are 40″ (UltraHD, 32″ and 24″ (both FullHD) and they will be available from the beginning of November. There is a microsite with more details (http://tinyurl.com/pokdtwq)
