The HPA Tech Retreat was held as usual in Palm Desert California recently. While we were unable to attend, a number of presentations were made available and we talked with some of the folks who were in attendance to complete our coverage.
The event covers a wide variety of topics including AI in content creation, the explosion of versions and how IMF can help, updates and success stories with ACES (the Academy Color Encoding System), VR storytelling and more. The event also featured an innovation zone with dozens of tech demos plus round table discussions on a variety of topics.
The presentations in the Advanced Cinema session were the only ones available at press time that we felt should be covered. There were some other news clips we found on some of the other sessions, but these did not seem to shed much new light on the relevant topics, so we didn’t paraphrase them.
This is clearly a technology-oriented event and one we will try to get to next year. – CC
