France-based Dreamvision has announced a new projector called the UST25-4000HDi that it claims is the world’s first ultra short throw (UST) FHD laser projector. Sony has a UST laser projector at 4K resolution, so this may be the first at FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution.
With an impressive 0.25:1 ultra short throw projection ratio, the UST25-4000HDi can display a 100” diagonal screen (220 cm wide) from just 30 cm (1 foot) off the screen/wall. Therefore, the projector can sit right below the screen or wall/ceiling mounted right above it. It offers 4000 ANSI lumens using a laser-phosphor solid state light source. In sRGB (game) mode, brightness drops to 3,300 lumens, which is better than most.
The DLP-based projector is aimed at schools, museums, businesses, sports bars, control rooms, yachts, hotels and residential living rooms. It is also suitable for 24/7 operation, the company says, so it can be used in control rooms as well.
The unit is light weight (7 Kg) and powers up in 8 seconds. It can be used in landscape or portrait orientation and includes a 10W speaker.
Thanks to the WonderWall embedded camera and the WonderWall finger-touch interactive kit (optional), the Dreamvision UST25-4000HDi is a fully interactive video-projector. And, it is 3D capable using DLP-Link shutter glasses.
Lifetime of the projector is specified at 30K hours (in eco mode), but the company did not disclose if this means to 80%, 70% or 50% brightness. MSRP in France is €7,000.
