Christie had a wide range of products on display, as you would expect. The company has a very wide range of display solutions including the LED Velvet series introduced at Infocomm last year, flat panels, projection and, of course, rear projection including the Microtile system. Following the acqusition, it also has the Coolux Pandora’s Box product. Christie now has a new specialist manager for LED (Dominique Denis), based in France, and is looking forward to developing the market. Initially, the focus will be on indoor applications, especially in retail, where the Microtiles are already accepted as a high end solution. Later rental and staging and outdoor applications will be addressed.
Christie has new laser phosphor projectors and has pushed its range down to relatively low (for Christie) brightness of 3,000 Ansi lumens and with very short throw options. We had a look at the FHQ981-L 98″ flat panel display and were impressed with the performance.
The company also highlighted how some of its latest installation projectors could also be used in rental/staging. There are very flexible connection options (e.g. duplicated connections on the side and back) that can be covered up and so the look can be very clean in an installation. However the small size and light weight is really useful in rental and staging.
