Bringing UltraHD to Art

Digital art is becoming more widely spread, and several companies are working with the revolution. One of these, Memento, has updated the traditional digital photo frame with UltraHD resolution.

Available in 25″ and 35″ sizes, the Memento Smart Frame shows images with 10-bit colour and can store up to 3,000. It can be be controlled over WiFi, from a mobile app or PC. An ambient brightness sensor adjusts image brightness, and will turn the display off entirely if it detects that lights have been turned off.

Recently funded on Kickstarter, the Memento Smart Frame will begin to be shipped in February.

Another company working with digital art is Depict, which has created the 50″ Depict Frame – another UltraHD display, which will show downloaded artwork. A circular wall mount enables 90° rotation, and art can be downloaded via WiFi.

The Depict Frame has a 30Hz refresh rate and runs on a Marvell 1500 Pro 4K processor, with a Vivante GC3000 GPU, a 32GB cache and 2GB of RAM. It can be pre-ordered now, for $1,800, and will be shipped this year.

Analyst Comment

The digital photo frame market “came and went” quite quickly, with few brands making inroads against low performance and lower prices. (BR)
